United Engineering Solutions GmbH (UES) is a growing and internationally operating maritime engineering company in the heavy lift shipping segment. UES offers a comprehensive service for shipping heavy lift, project, and breakbulk cargo as well as consultancy in nautical matters. We design steel structures for heavy cargo transportation, traverses and lifting beams, hatch covers, crane foundations, and jibs. UES develops operation manuals, method statements, lifting and stowage plans along with the calculation of se-cure lashing, on-site finalization, and supervision of projects. The UES team consists of experienced Captains, Nautical Officers, Cargo Superintendents, and Naval Architects. UES exclusively manages the UNITED GROUP’s fleet of more than 20 MPP heavy lift vessels and 3 deck carriers. UES cooperates closely with our partner companies United Heavy Lift and United Wind Logistics.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE OFFICE

To provide cargo related technical expertise, including

  • Prepare stowage plans, lifting arrangements, lashing plans, method statements, etc.
  • Provide guidance on cargo hold preparation and seamanship’s related topics
  • Discuss stowage or cargo related topics with master and owners
  • Provide technical information about vessels and advice on cargo handling restrictions and various related issues
  • Participate in vessels’ scheduling meetings in close cooperation with the chartering department

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OUT OF THE OFFICE

To provide cargo related technical expertise, including

  • Physical supervision of stowage and securing of cargo
  • Coordination of gang ordering and ships’ working schedules
  • Discuss stowage or cargo related topics with master and owners
  • Supervise stevedoring work and special-order loading/unloading operations
  • Act as a company representative
  • Interface between the office, stevedores, and ships

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written, and interpersonal
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Knowledge of German language is considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively interact with ships, Masters and crew
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently
  • Computer proficient / Knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of ship construction, structural strength, trim, stability
  • Knowledge experience with stowage, lashing, other requirements for the carriage of breakbulk such as steel, projects and heavy lifts

WHAT WE EXPECT

  • Minimum two years of seagoing experience as chief mate or second mate is considered an asset
  • Ability to travel and work outside regular business hours, including weekends, as required
